 how to check diodes
i believe my coil went out on my 23 horse vanguard but i was told to check the diodes, how do i do this.

Volt ohm multimeter put it on ohms and read just the diode only nothing else connected Should read low(0-5) ohms one way and nothin (infinity) open thd other

the diodes are there to protect feedback from one coil to the other. you dont need them to run. you can just unplug the terminal ground wiring harness and if it runs then its not the diodes. just be ready to choke the engine or smother the carb.
