Post GDSD motor mount bracket question
i need some input please . the bracket on my 35 gdsd that tilts the motor up and down has neoprene bushings . the bushings are spilling grease everywhere and are bad . go devil sent me brass bushings to replace them . i removed the old ones and put the brass bushings in and the bolt was super tight going through them . now my question is ....... is the bolt supposed to be tight and the whole thing supposed to move when you lift the motor up and down ... or is the motor supposed to move freely on the bolt with the bolt staying still inside the bushing . if i tighten down the nuts it does not travel freely . do i need to knock the bolt back out and take a lil out of the bushing to get the bolt to travel freely?. the bushings are in tight but i never noticed before if the bolt moved when i tilted the motor up and down , but the bolt is moving now .

Put in a call over to GD - Charles is the head mechanic - or most likely
if Coco is in, which is most of the time, he will talk you thru it....

Mine is three years old and I think I only greased it once....

Also be sure you still have the hard rubber bottom limiter which hits
that big bolt when the prop lifts to it's upper limit - those should be
replaced if damaged or missing - you almost have to lay in the floor
of the boat and look up to see it - it is so hidden up there.... Seems
like mine takes a beating and needs replacing every other year....

I did have one but sold it.You can tighten it as much as needed.I used to
keep it tight enough so when you tilt the motor it wouldnt fall back down
until you hit the handle. :)

Yeah I ended up calling coco and basically I got it wrong lol ... You have to install the brass bushings and then drill or ream it to till the pin barely spins freely in the bushings ,then snug up the nuts to the frame ... Live and learn ...luckily a new pin is 8 bucks ..thanks for your responses
