Which surface drive should i choose for my EBADS
Hi all, i would like to acquire an EBADS layout boat from Four Rivers Layout Boat but i need help to choose which surface drive will fit the best my boat. I never had the chance to try a surface drive and there are many surface drive on the market. Which one would be the best on the ,arket at this time?

Id guess no surface drive will fit well by the looks of the pods on the rear. Maybe a copperhead but your a long way off to have something delivered that wont work. I wouldnt buy one until you hung it off the back to make sure you wil have turning clearance. You need a small longtail to be on the safe side, not a surface drive.

poker's right, looks like they recommend a longtail for that rig, at least all the photos with a motor show a longtail. Throw a little 9-12 hp GD or MB and call it good. If you don't mind waiting, back h2o is coming out with a 10 hp longtail soon, they seem to make some great motors at a good price.

Mudbuddy and Back Water. If you have a GD dealer there, I would go with them and avoid shipping cost. Back H2o makes a very nice longtail, but I don't know if you'd be able to tell a difference between any of them on that small of a motor...

Just took a look at the hull in question, no a surface drive wont work, go with a longtail youll be happy you did. Are you stuck on that particular boat?

I have seen the phowler sneak boat, and they are very nice. If they would make one in a 1744 I would be the owner of one.

x2, just because it isn't up on the website doesn't mean they won't build it. Aren't they a "custom boat company"? They should build you whateva you want.

all they gotta do is cut the sheet wider and crimp it wider.

GD is a good long tail and its a no brainer if you have a dealer there. That is all you need on that hull. Will work great.

Re: Which surface drive should i choose for my EBADS
with not being stuck on the boat deffinetly go with a hull you can run a surface drive on. Ive been to the Thousand Islands on the St Lawrence U.S. side and went over to canada several times. The waters around there are big with bigger ships and boats. If you have a long ride and do alot of scouting a sd is the way to go, thier more like running an outboard than a longtail.
