 32 PD Briggs starter issues
Had intermittent trouble starting the motor all season long but it always ended up starting. Figured it was the starter or solenoid. It would click and click, click on the turn of the key but would always start by the 3rd of 4th time. Took off the starter and jumped it direct and it worked. Took the starter apart (be careful if you don't know how to put it back together because the brushes are spring set) and my neighbor told me it had to be the solenoid. Can't take that apart so I figured I would go ahead and buy one. Put it all back together with the new solenoid and same thing... Took all the wiring from the batter to the connectors apart (as best as I could) and reassembled and same thing...Must have taken the starter off at least three times and still no fix. Finally, messed with the ignition wires at the key switch (had replaced the entire switch early last year) and wouldn't you know it, hasn't failed yet...crossing my fingers...

Re: 32 PD Briggs starter issues
I'm going throught the same thing right now, Clickity freakin Click!
It would also start eventually but not any more, I've been having to jump the starter here lately. I took mine apart and found everything rusted up, full of mud, and retaining water in the bottom. ( which I drilled a small hole in ) the brush springs were rusted into pieces. Had to hit the local hardware store and get 4 springs half ass close to what was in there (No rebuild kit for this starter). I cleaned everything up real good, put it back together and it worked great for a few day then it started doing it all over again. I'm going to take your advise and run a hot jumper wire from the battery straight to the solenoid and see what happens.
Good Post myboy!

Re: 32 PD Briggs starter issues
I knew a bad connection or ground could cause it but didn't think about the connections on the back of the ignition switch. Anyway, I got pretty good at taking the stuff off and on and now I've got a spare solenoid.
