Post Mudbuddy Kohler 40HP
I was looking for some feedback on the Kohler 40 HP engine. I searched several forums and can't find anything. I heard Mudbuddy sold out of these so there's a few in the field.

Check with Deadbird8, I believe he test drove one for MB for a month or so.

If you use the search function, it has been talked about a few times. Looked like mb was having issues getting them from kohler. PD and GT are gonna stick with the 35/36 if I remember correctly. They didn't like the way they pushed the boats.

There were some issues with the engine and Kohler stopped selling them for marine service until they worked them out. They are supposed to re-release them again this year.

Thanks! I'm in the market to replace my longtail this summer and i was looking at the MB Kohler 40HP. I guess I'm leaning toward the stock 35 but i was concerned with the cracked block problems.

The cracked blocks are why i was looking at the Kohler. It's human nature to want mod any engine i own. Motorcycles, diesel truck engine so i know i will mod my mud motor also. I would probably wait until the warranties up. I still haven't heard from any owns of this engine.

I"ve had mine for 4 months been to Ark & West Tenn with it and have had no probs at all, worked well in that cold there, got 15 hrs on engine and it pushes my16/44 GT like a scalded Dog. I had a 35 van hyper, the Kohler seems to be a smoother running engine also they come with the Duals new. Says Ronbow

The Kohler 40 is a smoother running engine than the Briggs.

I ran a prototype with a Mikuni on it for about 25 hours and it ran really well pushing my heavy boat.
