 Anyone have an idea
Why this wouldn't work? http://cgi.ebay.com/Generac-Engine-33hp ... 2c51b0b06bWas looking in to doing a stage 1 on my 27 kohler. This is less money and lets me start with a bigger block and brand new engine. Can get whatever shaft I need, and supposed to fit the same bolt pattern. Its a prodrive.

 Re: Anyone have an idea
I can personally give you a few reason's why you should run and never look back towards the idea of a generac motor. You will have to change everything from the spline adapter up to the tiller handle. Generac is not the most user friendly motor for this type of application. You will have to upgrade the carburetor to a more responsive unit to be happy with your choice of engines. The genny has alot of torque and is a power house, but not a speed demon. The governor linkage is a very poor design. All that being said ,considering the upgrades and new parts to adapt the genny to your lower unit and the new engine it would cost you well over the cost of a stage 1. My honest opinion would be to go with the stage 1. I spent numerous hours researching posibilities and pestering a few of the motorheads here on this site and have come to the conclusion to change over to the vangaurd.Rail has given me alot of info and insight on the genny. For that I thank him for his time and Patients,And he def. could shed some light better than I.Hopefully he can chime in on this matter. Good luck, Jason

 Re: Anyone have an idea
Yeah, I talked to kp a lil bit ago. He pretty much confirmed exactly what was posted above. He said they used to use the generac motors, but the carbs were terrible, and a few other issues. Guess that idea is scratched.
Thanks again for the input on both of my recent topics.
