 Going Electric on my PD? I'm going to fit a Facet fuel pump soon as my engine is a 2007 and it's time for a new fuel line as well. The pump will go on the transom (no squeeze bulb) where I last had one with my GD-LT. The question is, bypass the stock mechanical pump, or as I have read on here just go through it as it stands.

Re: Going Electric on my PD? Where is your tank placement? Make sure the pump is rated to pull the fuel from whatever distance you place it. It's still a good idea to put a primer bulb in line. If the pump ever fails, you'll be thankful you had it. If your line goes dry, its also less strain and easy on the pump to bring fuel back to the motor initially.
As far as the mechanical pump....I don't know that it matters. If you leave it, its one more place to have something block a line or a place to develop an air leak.

Re: Going Electric on my PD? I have a elect fuel pump on my 09 PD I left the factory fuel pump and it's never gave me any issues having it hooked like that. Like stated above I'd leave or install a primer bulb just incase the e-pump fails.

Re: Going Electric on my PD? There are push pumps and pull pumps.
One goes by tank the other goes by motor.
Make sure you locate yours correctly.
Leave the stock pump.
On a PD, you should not need the epump and if you are having problems and need the epump that is a sign of a problem somewhere else. Usually an air leak of some sort. Usually around a fitting like a filter or tank connecter if you have one. Sometimes a vent issue depending on your tank.
To be clear I had a epump on my PD as well, but only turned it on when I had a problem or to do an initial pump from front to back of boat. Other than that it ran fine with the stock pump. My motor was modded including mikuni and still worked fine.

Re: Going Electric on my PD? I haven't understood why in the hell anybody installs an electronic pump. I've seen plenty modded all to hell motors run off the stock mechanical one. That's just something else to fail .

Re: Going Electric on my PD? I'm running electric because mine didn't come with a mechanical one, and the vacuum pump didn't work. They'll all fail. Pick your poison.
