 GTR 35 Mod Question
Ok guys I've got a simple question, what will be better for load carrying in my boat
- deck/port&polish heads & cam
or
- deck/port&polish heads & mikuni
I have an 18x48 Uncle J boat
Thanks for the info

 Re: GTR 35 Mod Question
My personal opinion.....do the heads and carb first. Run it a bit like that, I think you will see the gains you want. Then when the case gasket starts leaking (and it will) go ahead and throw the cam in. This is probably not the popular answer, but that is the way I've gone on my last 2 boats. Only reason I installed the cam was because I was in there anyway. But, the cam really does wake it up.

If you wanna have an awesome time and maybe stay in a room where children were conceived on one side and someone got stabbed over an 8-ball on the other come on down I got a can of raid.

 Re: GTR 35 Mod Question
Both do well, But my honest option the stock carb is pretty efficient for your everyday boat that still wants to appear stock. I have personally ran the stock carb (jetted an adjusted) with heads, cam, and exhaust and it has really good load carrying ability. It will probably be a little less expensive doing it this route.
Heads, exhaust and carb works well too. The carb makes up for the Lag that the stock carb has upon the first jab of the throttle getting on plane.
You can tell I'm somewhat biased towards the cam, because they typically have more lift and duration, which broadens the power of the engine throughout the RPM range.

 Re: GTR 35 Mod Question
I did heads and cam on my boat. Haven't put an exhaust on yet because I don't know if I want my boat to be that loud. Anyways I saw significant difference in load carrying and rpms. Gained a little on top end.

 Re: GTR 35 Mod Question
You could run an hs40,hsr42,hsr45, and probably a number of others, but I know folks who've run all those on these models.

 Re: GTR 35 Mod Question
If you have the money do heads, exhaust, cam and carb while the case is apart get the crank gear and cam ground to do away with your case gasket.
if your on a budget just do heads and exhaust now.

Not real hard to work on these motors but you just picked the two hardest mods to do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just make it a sticky or put it somewhere near the rules for posting in the reviews section. He'll never even get a phone call.
