Opinions on Replacement clutch for Prodrive?
Anyone tried one of these clutches? They claim to have high temperature bearings for extended life? They look the same and they have a removable top bearing.....to be replaced anually??....to avoid heat failure. Any experience or thoughts? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ProDrive-Pro-Dr ... 3ce2437a66http://www.amazon.com/ProDrive-Pro-Driv ... B00VF14EYGMy last clutch, second in 101 hours was a bit of a pain to remove. I would rather do maintenance than repairs.

Not a single person on here who has tried a different clutch like these, trying to find a better one? Every one buys them from Prodrive and just keeps replacing them? I find that hard to believe from the guys on here.

Re: Opinions on Replacement clutch for Prodrive?
I don't own a prodrive, but I feel most of us are getting enough hours out of them that we haven't had to look at different resource yet.
I got 250 hours out of my 1st clutch.

Re: Opinions on Replacement clutch for Prodrive?
Ok, fair enough. I haven't had as much luck with them so I thought I would look around.
I talked to Xtreme Outdoor Power Equipment about their clutches to verify they will work with the ProDrive outboards and when I told him that I have a 36hp motor, he told me that the clutch part number 5218-261 is only rated to 32HP. He won't even sell me a clutch for this motor. Said the torque is not rated high enough for this motor. Well that is the part number ProDrive gave me. So I guess these clutches are overrated from the get go.
Thanks for the replies. Any others are appreciated.

Re: Opinions on Replacement clutch for Prodrive?
Im thinking they may be using a cheap ass bearing??? I hope not, because I was planning on buying this unit... is this an aftermarket prodrive supplier? If I am not mistaken, prodrive sells their clutches for the same prices??? in my little experience the stock prodrive clutch has been fairly resilient...

Re: Opinions on Replacement clutch for Prodrive?
I had the original 07 clutch for a long time. I guess the torque from this kawi is too much, because I burnt up that one and now this heavy duty one.

Re: Opinions on Replacement clutch for Prodrive?
Those look good to me. Wiring harness is better protected, the PD model number is rated for 200ftlb of torque. Bearings supposed to be better. Here's a full book of their products, in the back pages there are troubleshooting guides. Looks like the ohm resistance should be around 2ish https://www.arrowheadep.com/images/Xtre ... atalog.pdf

Re: Opinions on Replacement clutch for Prodrive?
Didnt know that should be done and living in wisconsin my boat is under wraps from Dec to May, or so. Good idea to turn that prop every so often when stored?? Sounds like it.

Re: Opinions on Replacement clutch for Prodrive?
It wouldn't hurt to run it in gear for 5 minutes.
