Post Engine Lag from idle?
Before I did stage 2 mods, I could be at idle speed, and gas on it to take off and the motor would bog down so bad if you stayed on the gas it would die. Figured it was a fuel issue. Recently did a
Stage 2 on the Gtr and replaced all fuel lines, filters, etc. even on both sides of the stock fuel pump. Still having the same issue. If you Gun the motor from idle it starves for fuel and dies. As far as I know I have no air leaks as this is brand new line installed with new connections. A buddy of mine has a stock Gtr that does the exact same thing. Is this a fuel pump issue? Do I need an aftermarket fuel pump? Trying to dial the mikuni in and seems to be working good but also wanting to eliminate this issue so I'm sure it's not affecting the carb. Any helps appreciated.

Carb needs some tuning. If your bowl has fuel, it isn't going to bog off idle because of the fuel pump.

So turn a/f screw, or maybe jet size? I'm running a 165

Off idle don't have shit to do with your main jet. Check and make sure you acc pump is working and that the nozzle is facing the correct direction. What size pilot are you running? How many turns out on the a/f screw?

Also, if you haven't yet, download the hsr tuning manual. It is very detailed. You should just about have that manual memorized if you're gonna be messing around with this stuff.

Mud buddy. Try slowly turning idle fuel screw in while taping throttle to see it it cleans up. Turning screw in will fatten up the idle

Will this things a beast compared to stock. So glad I decided on the mods. I got my cam from Dyno cams. Advanced timing 5 degrees. Made a rookie mistake when going back together with it and damaged a tiny little spot on the crank shaft seal. It's a very slow leak but I'll have to get another asap. Heard that you can replace them very carefully with a piece of pipe, without opening the case back up.
Wished I had a tad more top end. Hit 32.2 with a busted up worn down stock 3 blade, and steady 30 with a hammer. The hammer really surprised me with holeshot.
My carb a/f screw is backed out 1 and 3/4 turns, idle rpms set around 800-850 in the water. In shallow water I can turn the hammer all the way up to 4700. I noticed in deep water sometimes it was speratic and would bounce around 4550-4700, so I just backed off of it and ran it around 4500 or so in deep water. I don't know why, maybe has something to do with the last part of the carb. I got the tuning manual, I've been lazy about dialing it in perfect lol. but it was running fairly decent from what little time I had when it wasn't raining. Thanks for all the help. I'll get it dialed in perfect, hopefully, soon.

Sounds like it's running great. Good job. Nice to see some guys willing to go for it and figure it out themselves.
