Post Subaru 25/28efi RPM Adjustment
Hey y'all,

Well I finally bit the bullet and got myself a MudBuddy Mini with a Subaru 28efi (One of 4 Sid from Fast Duck said MudBuddy was releasing). I have 35 hours on the thing so far and love it. Was able to get into places this early teal season, that I would have never imagined myself going into with my old two stroke. The only thing is I feel like the motor can do more than what it's currently performing at. WOT in deep water I'm getting ~3500 to 3600 RPM running at 21 MPH, and in shallow water around 22 MPH. Out of water WOT is right at 3850 RPM. I know some of the guys like Lucer said he found his Subaru to run best at around 4,000 to 4,200 RPM.

I'm brand new to these types of motors and I've done as much research as possible, but cannot find anything on adjusting the RPM's on this motor. If any of you guys with the 25efi or 28efi Subaru/Robin mind chiming in that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure what the break in period is for the Subaru efi but I would imagine after 50ish hours it'll pick up some more RPMS. Just keep running it and it should open up some more.

You should be able to hit 4150 out of water in neutral. I think I made a thread a while back that showed how to adjust it.

Sorry to tell you brother but they released way more than 4 of them. Me and my buddy Each have one and I know a couple dealers in LA that got some plus a few other people on this forum.

Any hoo... Check you throttle setting. I adjusted mine and got to 4100 after only initially getting 3600 straight from mud buddy.

I don't know about that Marsh...I had a lot of phone calls and e-mails with Clint from Mud buddy when they were testing the Subaru earlier this year. Sure didn't sound like they put much more than a handful or two of them together.

Here is Perkins thread you should read:

I'm just saying. I have one, my buddy has one, another guy on the forum has one and the OP has one. There is 4 right there.

What are the odds we all have the only 4 mud buddy Subaru 28 efis ever made?

Plus I was told by several dealers they were getting a couple of them too and the only reason mud buddy stopped making them was because they couldn't get any more motors from Subaru. MB planned on making a 28 efi HDR and then Subaru shut the door on them.

Back to the issue. Like I said check your throttle adjustment screw. Mud buddy had mine set really low. Couple of turns and I was at 4100 rpms in the water.
