17x60 vs 16x48
Anyone have any first hand experience with performance differences I'm thinking a 17x60 is wide enough to handle a big load but short enough to not fall on its face I have a 16x48 now for what it is it handles a load great just not fun crossing in Venice with a short boat and would like more room for frogging and bow fishing without losing too much performance

Get an 1860. It ain't gona fall on it face and an 18 foot boat seems to handle rough waters better. I won't go back to anything under 18 feet.

Probably very little loss if any and you'd gain speed loaded or at least maintain speed with more weight. I put my stock 37/1860 against a lot of modded motors pushing smaller boats and while unloaded they may pull away from me, my boat shines when you start pouring the weight to her. It does real good.
Planing surface wins every time with a load.

Planing surface wins every time with a load.
Yep. Empty a smaller boat is faster than me, not by much though....put weight in them and ill leave em every time
I only loose 1-2 mph with a hunt load. Honestly i would like a boat in the 19x54 size
I agree, I went from a light 100 ga. 18x46 to a 19x54(heavy) 24' sides, 3/16th bottom, transom, and storage bench, get about same speed(better than before with a load) at less rpms.
