mud buddy 4400 black death HDR
I need some help or input. I purchased a excel 1754 with mud buddy 4400 HDR. This is my first mud boat and motor. When i bought the boat I insured to put non ethanol 91 octane fuel in it. I used it a couple of days in a row and it seemed to stall and kill when i put it in gear. We adjusted the idle up a little to cause it from not doing this. I noticed the second day it stalled when i tried to drive it or put it on the trailer. Seem to bog down and kill. i know they say it should be isling around 1200 rpms. I didn't think to much about it but it seemed like it shouldn't be doing that. I used it the other night to go frogging and I could only get it to run and idle with the motor trimmed up to where the prop was on the waters edge. every time i trimmed it down the motor would kill. I spoke to a couple people and figured it could be a fuel issue and some suggestions were to run AVFuel in the boat. I added some octane booster to the gas that is in the tank and it seems to be running better and idling better in my yard on the trailer. BUT......it can be running and idling fine when i trim it down it kills.
Any help or input would be appreciated. thanks!!

Re: mud buddy 4400 black death HDR
Well I will tell on myself. when I bought the boat we added a little over a quart and a half of oil. After looking over the engine, I noticed some oil residue on the bottom of the engine. I checked the oil plug and noticed it was lose. I checked the oil and it was about a quart low. I only have 4 hours on the motor. After adding the oil, it ran fine. Yes i feel like an idiot. Just wanted to share to help others who might have the same issues.

Dang good eye... it happens man. Once sat with a few people in another boat for a few hours as he tried to fix his motor. Turned out to be the kill lanyard had wiggled out. Glad you figured your shit out and hopefully no harm done to the engine!
