Post GATOR TAIL PROBLEM???
I have a GTR 35 on a Gator Trax 18+56 boat. I,ve had for almost 2yrs and i
I have cracked my shaft housing twice.I pretty much fish only. The question i have is that i'm wondering if this rig is not a match because im thinking vibration. I've had no luck with this set up since the first month.I have changed reverse lever three times for leaks.Exhaust block cracked, trim box changed,Crank case leak twice,Tach broke,Transom off spec and had to build up and get longer lower unit added, lower unit housing cracked, changed relays twice, control switch box cracked.

Wow

Your not the first to combine the GTR with a Gator Trax - should be
able to get some good advise here.... Maybe if you posted a pic or two
or more info on the transom height it would help get better answers....

Where you are located - do you have a dealer working with you ?

Something is seriously wrong!! You should not be experiencing enough vibration to cause these problems.

Where you located?

Have you changed out the prop? It could be out of balance or pitch could be off on one of the blades?

This is definetely a bummer for a first time surface drive owner. One thing i can say is that Kyle and Hoyt have been there for all repairs.I,m just nervous about being stuck once warranty runs out.

I,m thinkin a bent shaft. There is no way it could be to much torque on shaft.

If your cracking belt housings and shaft logs you have a SERIOUS problem and need to bring that thing in! I run my motor wide open thru cypress swamps and have never cracked anything.

Is it possible your engine is sitting too low.............as in your transom not being tall enough?

I think that he posted that the transom was raised and motor was converted to a tall transom.

you could try starting the motor with the boat on the trailer and put it in gear to see if you have any vibration.if you do take the prop off and do it again.if vibration is gone its the prop if it's still there it could be the shaft.

dude with all that other stuff breaking though, like the tach, exhaust, and other motor problems, i would return it. i would have to get my money back, ande maybe try a totally different motor, or different brand. i mean, i've heard lots of good thingd about gtr, but thatas just horrible whats happened to yours.

I wish it were a april fools joke. I run pretty much all open water.Been froggin maybe (5) times since it was purchased. I've never been in another GTR set up to compare but it does not appear to me to have to much vibration. The transom was to short originally ,I had GT build it up for Gator Trax so i would'nt have to drive all the way there.i then had to change to a long lower unit and they also changed my motor because they thought maybe that was the problem. I had GT test drive boat and they said everything seemed fine. I know they are on top this but how much do i have to deal with. Me personally I would like to have a new one put on,since i have not experienced anything but bad luck.I almost feel now when i call that im a burden of unfortunate events.TOTALLY DISCUSTED.To be honest i should'nt HAVE TO ASK for a new one.Just my personal opinion!

Why shouldn't you have to ask? I would have... If you don't ask you'll never know bro, hope you get the situation worked out.
