33mm flat slide mikuni tuning on modded 23 vanguard
Anyone running a 33 flat slide on a modded 23 vanguard?
Just finished putting together a new build, and went with a flat slide over the 34mm round for this build. Motor starts on choke, but as soon as you either take it off choke or give it throttle, it falls on its face and dies. Anyone know a good starting point for jets?
Current Jetting 127 main 25 pilot
Mods are as follows: Port and polished intake, and intake adapter Heads decked .040, port and polished 308 billet cam STOCK PISTONS AND RODS
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance guys

Have you adjusted the idle air mix? Or set your idle speed?
The flat slides don't really have a choke. It's called a "starter" and all it does is dump extra fuel, so if it will run with extra fuel, I would get the motor some more fuel.
I don't know anything about jetting one of those, but I'm pretty sure you can make adjustments with what you have to at least get running. Will C or Huck Finn would be who I'd ask for a good starting point jet wise.

First thing is double check for a vacuum leak, double check valve lash

Use sealant between carb boot and intake. Another common smallblock mistake it torquing the heads down not thinking about the lack of Dow pins. This will make a big vacuum leak where the intake bolts to the heads

Install the intake with no gaskets and only finger tight. This will hold the heads square while torquing
