Don't be concerned about engine life.
Performance gains will depend on how much work is done to the heads. A good port and polish with a decking of about .050-.060 will give you some noticable gains.

I have been doing a lot of research and what I come up with is port and polish decking (like craig said .050-.060) 3 angle valve job with SS valves

I don't want to break anything in there though So I shouldn't worry cause I'm not hopping the internal guts of the engine up and still running with governor below 4250 RPM right? Not sure if the decking was included in the head job that SETX gave away... I'll have to ask.

Have you decided not to use the Gecker stage II carb you bought ???
Didn't want to divert the thread but was curious as to how happy you were with it's performance and reliability....
