BPS Stage 1 Black Death Performance System - Good buy?
Been looking at mods to increase the load carrying capacity of my rig for a while now.... I run a stock 2013 ProDrive (36 Vanguard) on an 1860 Phowler.
I'm close to pulling the trigger on a BPS Stage 1 Performance kit (42mm mikuni carb kit, iron mountain heads, Q exhaust, all the gaskets). It might be a bit more $$ but i figure it will be a more reliable option than piecing it together on my own.
What you fellas think? Is the BPS kit worth the cash or are there better options out there I should be looking into.
Thanks in advance.

There's better options for heads out there, the carb kit has a huge mark up on it, but comes with everything you need. I peiced my carb kit together for around 500. I wouldn't necessarily say the kit is any more reliable but definitely more convenient.

Re: BPS Stage 1 Black Death Performance System - Good buy?
How much is that kit? I just got exhuast, cam, valves, springs and gaskets for $850. I'll spend another $200 or so locally having the heads decked and a three angle valve job. No P&p but I've heard the gains are not worth the risk when having it done by someone who doesn't do a lot of these motors.

I understand buying the carb kit, but that would be about it. Do a search on here about folks that will work heads.....most will give you much more bang for your buck than IM heads.and gut the stock exhaust. From what I understand, the new q doesn't flow much better than the stock muffler before gutting.

I know what the valves cost and how many hours it takes to do the job right. At 400 he must be starving for work or? I would ask for pics of previous work

Y'all talking about piecing the kit together need to know that BPS has jacked up the price on their adapters. I think they're knocking on $300 now.

Re: BPS Stage 1 Black Death Performance System - Good buy?
I have a bps adapter I'd let go for half off...$150, even throw in a mikuni, and an air filter for another $150.

SC, does the pvt adapter have the "knife edge" built into it?

Re: BPS Stage 1 Black Death Performance System - Good buy?
BPS pricing is in line with everyone else. Folks don't realize there is a $400 core charge for heads that gets refunded when you send back the old heads.
As far as heads go, we are now using a different head. They have been flow bench designed by a master in the small engine world. Anyone can flow test a head right? Can they duplicate that exact porting design on every set they build in the future with a hand rotary tool? NO.
BPS can.

You are correct on the carb motor kits. Sorry, I was referring to the EFI kits. My mistake

So, the WHOLE head is cnc machined? Or the port work and shave is cnc machined?

I get the theory. The baddest engines in the world sometimes run cnc heads as step 1. Then they all get cleaned up from there.

Re: BPS Stage 1 Black Death Performance System - Good buy?
Glade, I know what you meant, but as a customer, i feel all of yall have just decided to lie and mislead for fun now. Some would read what you said and take it just as you said it, and you'd be fine with that. Because it's a sale. Just a quick view of all yours and other's websites supports this (this rant isn't just directed at you and bps). Many of these claims (fastest, strongest, most powerful, most reliable, only, etc) have been proven false by those of us that purchase your products. Whether you think your way is better or you're just trying to convince someone to spend their hard earned money on your product instead of someone else's, the obvious falsehoods or misleading advertising is just unethical and frankly is getting old. You're the one that posted here, so the response is for you, but it's directed at all yall that take our money while doing it, simply because you're the only ones selling. Put a little time into your websites in making them honest, and you'd be surprised at the business yall would pick up from those that respect that sort of thing. You don't make the fastest 3 blade on the market, just in case you needed an example. Nothing will change, I'm just grumpy today and felt like calling out someone, so when you came along, I snapped. I don't drink the koolaid, as I think gt is just as bad as yall and mb.
Oh wait, the world doesn't respect honesty anymore. I forgot that important fact. Carry on with the fully machined heads. <_<
I'll go take my meds now and never call you out again.
