Yep giga every engine oil change I change the oil in the trans as well. Takes about 3 extra minutes of my time. I bet I could change my engine oil, tansmission oil, shaft grease, and prop...... Faster than you can change just the prop on a gdsd.

Mines GTR is a '05 model and if'n I remembers rite it also came with a heavier break in oil fo the trans .... I thank. I'd go ahead and git that out and runs some engine oil like the manual says .... but first I'd go aheads and put the necessary run time on it ... like 'bout 15 hrs. 'Member tho .... like Maxxis posted .... you probly gonna have that fluid cuppleations ... most 'specially when out of water sittin' on yore trailer.

Well fellas here is my sitiuation I have talked with GT. Hoyt himself has changed the clutch on my motor at 40 hrs, he did the transmission oil so I am pretty sure the level is right .I change my oil and grease on schedule and yes I open my drain screw for the grease. I have checked the belt and it is not loose. I have also since brought my motor to Calen. He had to tear it down to do a valve job so everything was looked over by him also. Terry my motor now has 82 hrs and I have changed the grease 3 times. Coe if your dog ran in to my prop while in neutral it would crack his skull. Dog Walker I can also stop mine with my foot but I wouldn't do it with crocs on lol. Maxxis it will still do this right after putting new grease and I use the AMSOIL grease thick blue going in runny and somewhat green coming out filled until nothing but thick blue exits the drain hole. My engine since getting it back from Calen is running better than it has since day one so I will let it spin , just look out if you walk behind me at the boat landing.

I talked to Hoyt today and he explained that the prop spinning while in neutral in from the inertia of the gears and oil in the transmission. He gave me more details about it, but everyone should get the point.

"GTR prop spins in neutral"
I see this post being re-hashed for years to come.

http://www.gator-tail.com/video_dualgtr.html
You can see the dual rig being lauched here with the props spinning.

I heard this whole video was made without the motor ever being put in gear. ;)

Post Re: GTR prop spins in neutral
So all the sh!t awhile back about an accident waiting to happen behind a godevil was just gatortail people talking sh!t? I guess Giga will research it and bring back that thread but it was posted by many that godevil was the only mudmotor that had a spinning prop if the motor was running at a dock and it was very dangerous to be at that dock at 4 in the morning because someone might run into that turning prop. What else makes a gatortail like a godevil? They both have spinning props, which the gator tail owners has informed us many times that it is very dangerous.
I guess the old saying of If you live in a glass house don't throw the first stone, still goes for if you own a gatortail don't walk to close to the spinning prop. People who own godevils are probably told that they don't have a clutch and they know not to walk to close to the prop, but gatortail owners are told that they have a clutch and a disengaged clutch should stop something from spinning. It is mentioned many times that this is a lawn mower engine and on a lawn mower the blades don't spend when the clutch is disengaged.
So having to pay that much more money for a gatortail doesn't really get you neutral, so maybe that is why COCO figured it was no use putting something else on his motors.
Let the gatortail owners crank up but that is one battle Giga will win.

ps. DDM I noticed that you posted right before I psoted this, have fun making excuses. ;) ;)

Think about what you just said !! A go devil has a mercury switch Which you have to lift it out the water to start right or wrong!! Kinda be hard to walk into a Gatortail at the landing unless your a diver out for a swim!! !!

Hey DDM, on your next call to Hoyt or whoever you get your info from at gt, ask them if they will offer this as protection.

GD owners know that their prop will spin. ;)

Quit making excuses for gt. The owner who was concerned about the prop spinning wasn't talking about other motors. He was concerned about the gt prop. After all gt is a superior motor compared to gd and their prop still spins.

Not all of them.

And the ones that do spin....do not do so ALL of the time.

What exactly is your argument....the potential of a GT prop spinning in neutral....or the prop being a danger while spinning in neutral?

Cause if it's the latter...you are failing flagrantly.
