Post TO REPLACE
an oil pan gasket on a PD 25 H.P., will I have to pull the whole engine and remove the clutch? What will a lawnmower shop charge me for this?
I have held off as it is only leaking very little when I turn over 3200 rpm's. Can anyone tell me what size shaft I have? It is a Kohler CV730s -0024, nobody else will tell me the shaft size, have thought about replacing the powerhead with a 27 h.p.

If it's not leaking too bad then just check the level before each trip and be sure to keep some oil in the boat.

Or just pay to replace it and it will eventually leak again.

Here are the crank specs.

Shaft 1-1/8" (28.550 mm)_PTO Mtg Face 4-1/2" (113.2 mm)

I wouldn't waste the funds jumping up to a 27, just do some mild mods (headwork, exhaust, and carb) and it would be even better than a stock 27.

I've seen these motors cranking out some serious hp/torque :)

I have a 32 hp pd. Mine started to leak like a sieve mid season. I took it to a small eng shop and had the gasket replaced right before xmas. I think I had $175 in it. It was worth the $ for me because they tore it down and repaired it in 1 day, got me back to the season quick. I would get it handled asap because if that thing lets loose in the bush, you are f-ed!

thanks fella's always good info! Thanks for the shaft specs! I had been running it a while, the leak is almost non- existent, it took a while to determine that it was actually the gasket and not the oil filter mount.
A lawnmower shop was what I had in mind, hoping that they could do it in one day or so, or be able to keep and lock up the boat overnight.
