Out at the camp yesterday and it started to pour. I mean rain coming sideways. Didn't realize but my poling platform has a seat pedestal on it the has a hole straight through the other side. The hole lined up right where the air filter is. It has a nylon cover over it but water got through. After the rain stopped I turned the key and the motor would lock up. So I figure there is water on the valves. Tolling motor back to the boat ramp, get to the house, pull the plugs, turn the key, and water shoots out on both sides. I keep turning over the motor until I smell and see gas vapor coming out. Put the plugs back in, she fires up just fine.

I take care of my stuff..... Question is, is there anything else I need to do?

Id pull the plugs and shoot a little oil in the cylinders and crank her over a few timesto lube the walls up, and then put the plugs back in and fire it up. It will smoke a bit from the excess oil on the cylinder walls, but at least you know you tried your best to prevent damage. Just make sure no water got in your oil.

Same thing happened to me last year, except I drove thru a squall on the way to the launch. I had to pour gas directly in the carb to get it to fire up. Having water shoot out the dual exhaust is not a good feeling. I finally got it to fire up and stay running. Just check ur oil and make sure none found it's way in there. I let mine warm up for a few minutes, and launched it and fished all day. Never had any problems with it after that.

Good Luck.

Squirt some WD in there after you pull the plugs.

X2 on what everyone else said----Although same thing happended to me last winter.(long story) tryin to work throught some minor issue's now. Called Warren over at Go Devil he say's hell son you just washed it that's all. Change the oil once and then get it real hot. You will be fine. He had some other advice for me also, you will have study my signature to understand that!
