 finally installed a fuel pump
after two years of complaining about motor dieing on me in warm weather. Worked like a champ, primer bulb was well primed !!!!!
What are you guys doing for a switch to turn it on and off ? I just temp rigged it with large battery clips.

Wired mine to a toggle switch. Power feed from the ignition switch so it doesn't keep runnin if I forget to turn it off or bump the switch when I cover the boat. I also took out the primer bulb, with the electric pump, you don't need it.

What about bypassin da stock fuel pump on da motor? I have heard you can break da diapham in it by addin an electric fuel pump.

i run an e pump on my 16hp briggs. i used the white wire that was there for the carb solenoid to run the pump. to kill the pump if the motor dies i use a hobbs adjustable oil pressure switch set at 4 psi. if the motor dies the pump dies. when you crank it you hit 4 psi almost instantly. by using a pressure switch,if you pull your cord, or hit the kill switch or anything stalls the engine you dont have to worry about the pump sitting and running. its just like the set up on 80's model cars.

I just wired mine into the hot side of the ignition, so when the key is on, the fuel pump is on.

Yeah, most all of us run them in the Lowcountry of SC on our PD's. Did same as DMD said and tied into the hot on ignition switch.
Even before I had the electric pump, I cut the bulb out of my fuel line on both of the motors I have had (32 and now my 36) and that helped a lot with the problems I was having in hot weather!! I don't know if it is humidity or cavitation or what, but it was aggravating for a while!
Had a catfish spine go through the fuel line once and the result was about the same...
For those unfamiliar with the reason for removing the bulb/adding the pump, we (those I run with) were having problems with cutting out in hot weather at WOT. Just removing the bulb fixed my the issues with my 32 and my buddy's 25. as for my 36, I didn't even have 5 hours on it before I yanked the bulb off and it helped, but only way to completely remedy the situation was the electric pump. Have been running it into the stock pump for 250+ hours now and so far, so good! Like they said, turn the key on for a brief moment and the line pressure builds right up (for those not running one and curious).

the e-fuel pump is a cover up for an existing problem elsewhere. I've found a plethora of problems on fuel systems that will attribute to the hot weather problems... it ain't da stock fuel pump though.
so if you can't find the actual problem and an e-fuel pump don't bother you, then do it. But I hate e-fuel pumps and would rather find/fix the problem.

and if ur gonna commit to da e-fuel pump.... might as well bypass da stock pump and cut da shaft off of it. One less thing ridin on da cam...

I think I might be having this problem. I took the boat out this weekend, it ran fine for about 10 min, then wouldn't start back up. seemed like the bulb wasn't staying tight. I have a 25 4 stroke Yamaha. Any ideas?

We had this same problem on our 40 hp yamaha we ran for like 10 to 15 mins with new gas then all a sudden it would rev down then up then down then up then back down going crazy on us re pumped the bulb ran some more then did it again re pumped it ran fine then started again re pumped it one more time then ran fine for another 24 miles. BTW- the teals are coming down EARLY in mississippi we found probably 60 teal this is rare for around here this early.
