 Possible Oil Leak
Starting to see an oil leak on the filter side of the GT where the rear case cover bolts to the block. Only on the filter side, not anywhere else. Any thoughts?

 Re: Possible Oil Leak
that's where they always leak, right there at the oil galley. If you'll notice there's 11 bolts. 6 on the other side, and 5 on the oil galley side. Piss poor design... putting the oil galley right where the 12th bolt should've gone. They should have incorporated a bolt in there somehow.
You may be able to slow it down some by tightening the bolts a little, but be careful... you could crack the sump. You won't stop it, it'll have to be changed sooner or later. It don't hurt to run it... I run mine until they're pukin oil then I finally break down and change it. lol
good luck.

 Re: Possible Oil Leak
Thats where mine was leaking, Brought it to GT they slapped a new gasket on it. Lemme guess right by the serial numbers where you can see the gasket really well. Def your case gasket. How many housrs since it was taken apart Howard? Mine was just a seep and keeping the side of the block wet, Hope the new style gasket helps.

 Re: Possible Oil Leak
Thats why I sent mine. Mine was never a gusher... and doubtful it would have ever been one. No different than a leaky valve cover on a vehicle. It is more of an annoyance than a real problem. These engine dont quite have a balanced rotating assembly.

 Re: Possible Oil Leak
Had gasket changed twice. The third time a had a local briggs repair shop fix for good. They ar aware of situation. There is a flaw in the recessed ports being not deep enough. The new cover which i have is recessed deeper and thicker "o" ring gasket. No problem since. Might want to make a callto Theriot's in westwego,LA for more assistance.

 Re: Possible Oil Leak
Turbodrive let her go for 200 hours puking oil and it cost him a new cover. It closed up the clearance on the cam and tried to weld the cam to the cover. Cam was salvagable but the cover was not.
