I have a 35 GT on a 1756ds Triton and I'm looking for power without going into the motor. The only thing I've done is put a Hopkins Hog exhaust on it. I guess what I'm really asking is what combo's work the best together. carb., rev. limiter, exhaust. Any info would help, thanks |

carb or headwork. I'd probably do headwork first if I were you. A different boat would probably give the most gains in all areas. Not trying to be mean. Just honest. But some light headwork and a valve job would probably help out quite a bit. Especially if you already have the exhaust. |

Headwork....exhaust....cam will wake your engine up and are the safest mods to get. Mikuni carb. setup will cost you an additional 800-1000 dollars and you'll only gain 1 -1.5 mph. |

I'm not a mechanic and this is why I have asked this question. If I can do some internal stuff that will not just keep my motor broke down, thats fine by me. As far as my boat goes, its def. not a mud boat. It is lighter than a mud boat which gets me just a little more speed(33mph one man). When I get three folks and equipment in the boat it just will not plain up. This is way I'm looking for the extra power. |

have you considered going down in prop? if you are running 33, that is great. It says you have the power to get moving... could be as simple as changing your load distribution. If you can run 33, it is hard to believe you can't even get on plane with your load unless it is just a huge load..... think about going down in prop and giving up some top end speed unloaded, but gain a lot loaded. i switched my (pd) 32 prop to a 27 prop and gave up a couple mph on the top end but can now run just about as fast with 3 people (if arranged right in boat) as I can with just me. Whereas before I was running about 10 mph slower with 3 people. If you do go down in prop size, watch your rpms unloaded- not sure whether you have governor or rev limiter but make sure you don't jack your rpms up unloaded.... I would also look at (and play around with) where all your weight is. moving stuff around in the boat -even just an inch or so left or right can make a big difference. I have seen it happen in my boat. try different things front and back and left and right. I know me even changing where I sit by 6-8 inches makes a difference. Which way people point there legs can make a difference. all that said, I am as concerned about keeping the motor reliable as you are. i would consider getting my heads worked and a valve job to go with that exhaust. If you have the budget, may get your carb/intake opened up a little and change out your air intake and filter as well. None of that (assuming you get the carb retuned correctly and aren't running too rich or too lean) should put your motor at risk. Priority for me would be head, valves, and air filter. |

Looks like I'll be saving up to get some heads, valves, and a modded intake. Thanks for all the info fellas. |
