Skinny on engine mods: what works and how much
Here's a link to a test of various engine mods on Briggs and Stratton 5 hp engine and performance improvements after each mod: http://www.aviator.cc/briggs.txtBy far the most improvement resulted from exhaust modifications. I think the study would translate to mud motor engines.

Exhaust mods should always be one the first things you do to any engine. There is no point in trying to get more air fuel in when you have no way to get it out. And yes the briggs stock exhaust is very restrictive.

I was surprised they didn't mention the gain from the electric fuel pump. I mean they did have them back in 1994 right?
