Starting motor when motor is cold ?
When i start my motor it turns over for a while be for is starts. It dont matter the temp outside hot or cold still does it what can i do? I was thinking a primer bulb on the gas line i think the gas may be falling back down into the tank when it sits after i stop the gas tank is in back of boat so it dont need to go far.
thanks

Primer bulb will solve it.

Re: Starting motor when motor is cold ?
Add a electronic fuel pump. Turn the key a little, and fuel will be forced in carb. After waiting 5 seconds, crank her up...

Re: Starting motor when motor is cold ?
pull the choke and turn the throttle wide open and it should start right up. If that doesn't solve it, then get a primer bulb and repeat.

Re: Starting motor when motor is cold ?
With my stock carb I would pull the choke, turn the throttle a couple times and it cranked right up.

Re: Starting motor when motor is cold ?
oil pressure might have to build up . if not enough oil pressure the senser will ground out motor till enough pressure is built up

Re: Starting motor when motor is cold ?
Back in the day people used to pump the pedal to start carbureted engines all the time. Granted the stock carb dosent have an accelerater pump so squeezing the throttle without air moving through the carb will do nothing. If you are cranking the engine (IE airflow through the carb) while squeezing the throttle the venturi effect will cause fuel to be drawn into the intake and more fuel will be intorduced because of the throttle allowing more air to be sucked in.

Re: Starting motor when motor is cold ?
Are you sure its a fuel issue?
If your tach is showing RPM then you are getting spark
I have seen motors with a marginal battery/cables cause this- just not cranking quite fast enough to get it started and requiring alot of cranks before it finally starts. Swapped his battery cable and it cranked up in a couple of revs.
Try to isolate your problem- its either air, fuel, or electricity

Re: Starting motor when motor is cold ?
i live up north..ive never needed the primer bulb..choke it and give the throttle a couple twists and it should fire right up. Just dont rev the piss outta it when its cold let it get nice and warm... same for chasing crips

Re: Starting motor when motor is cold ?
And an electric fuel pump doesn't hurt.
