i have a 27 hp pd. I think the motor is blown, so wondering if i could put a replacement motor but upgrade at the same time...to a 32 or 36. Anyone running anything other than kohlers and will they fit right on the pd frame??? maybe honda or kawasaki?

i am almost finished changing my 27hp kohler to 36hp briggs your only problem is your throttle linkage will not match up and need a 36 prop as long as u have a 1 1/8 " shaft you should be alright

I just changed mine to a generac 40 ordered off ebay shipped to the house $1525 with a tach and 2 year warranty. I told the guy what I had (model # and spec #) and he put a wiring harness on it that plugged right up to control box. The linkage will need some adjusting, but I converted mine to BPS squeeze grip. With the money you save verse buying a briggs or kohler you can buy a Mikuni and exhaust, you don't need to change the intake it will flow plenty. It has been discusssed before on here Briggs and Kohler rate their motors without air filter or exhaust. Generac rates theirs with both on, if you remove the air filter and exhaust, the generac creates slighty more hp than the 40 kohler and more tourque, you can look this up on the internet.
