Post Running a Mikuni in the Rain
I put a Mikuni on this summer and love it. But this will be my first season with it and I was just wondering when it's raining and you are just sitting their hunting do you throw a ziplock around the filter with a rubber band on it. That is how I have been doing when pulling the boat around behind my truck in the rain and since my boat stays out side I store it with a ziplock on it as well. I have the K&N oiled and have a pre filter on it.

Post Re: Running a Mikuni in the Rain
I've always put the zip lock bags over mine when it starts to rain, if I'm hunting. Early teal I got caught in a huge down pour and couldn't see more than 20ft in front of me. The motor started sputtering and I lost power. So I ended up trimming the motor higher to get my carbs pointing down a bit so water wouldn't get in the engine as much and it worked. I had to crawl back to the dock though and it wasn't fun. A lot of the guys here haven't had issues with the rain but that day I did. I didn't have the prefilter on it which might have been the reason and some here say to spray the prefilter with silicone spray and it helps. I keep mine on the boat now but haven't tested them out so I couldn't tell you if it worked. I can tell you that it was a very long ride to the dock that day .

When it rains take it off. Air fillters are over rated.
