the two wires coming out of the sensor-just unplug them and the wire that was going to the sensor, plug it to the starter wire that the other one was hooked to./

my motor is a kohler so not sure if its the same, but its a small cylinder, maybe 3/4 inch in diameter bolted on the side of your motor with two wires coming out of it. or you could trace the wires coming off of your starter, the small one that doesnt go back under the engine cowl should lead back to the sensor

It should just be a mercury switch. Just bypass it.

mercury switch is there for when you start the motor and your throttle is frozen wide open----= start the motor out of the water

not sure if you solved the problem yet but a simple fix is to lossen the screw that attaches the mercury switch to the motor, rotate the switch until the bottom face upwards, then retighten the screw. That way there is no cutting wires and can be rotated back when you find out that it aint such a great idea.

Yea I have agree that this is a bad idea. If you did it or are going to. keep a camera close by so every one can enjoy, or do you have one of those new longtails with neutral and reverse
