I haven't run it yet, because I finished painting my boat today, and want the paint to sit for a week, but all I have to say is WOW! The motor sounds like a completely different motor! I haven't installed the rev limiter yet, but I am running 4250 out of the water at 1/4 throttle! Is this normal? I have done a lot of work to my motor, heads, cam, exhaust etc. Maybe this is normal, but with my old carb, which was modified I could run it wide open out of the water and only get 4350-4400 with governor screw torqued. This was the max RPM I ever saw. Granted, I was wasn't trying to max it out, but at 1/4 throttle? I will post a review after I run it, as it will be a good comparison to a stock modified carb to the Mikuni. |

That's normal. It won't be like that when you put a load on it. |

i went out and ran my motor today, and I was very happy with the Mikuni. I had a modified stock carb already installed, so i was not sure what what to expect. In general, the motor just runs better with the Mikuni. It cranks over immediately, and now idles at around 1000 RPM, and with the clutch engaged, but no throttle applied at around 720 RPM's Which is really nice IMO when you are "trailering" your boat, ,or just want to putt along. With the stock, I would putt along at around 5 MPH, with the Mikuni 2-3 MPH. The engine in general just sounds better and runs better through out the whole spectrum. A modified stock however is a good alternative if you are light on funds, and would like to focus your cash on the heads, exhaust and cam. In regards to performance, on the bottom end they were about a push. I might even give the stock modified the slight advantage here, but it would be slight if any. The Mikuni kicks right in, and pushes the boat to 26-28 MPH quickly. Plenty of torque. On the top end the Mikuni has the modified stock carb beat. I ran all day around 29 solid (this is good for my boat and load). I ran today with a boat that has always pulled away from me, but not anymore! The Mikuni just seemed to really open the engine up, and push it almost effortlessly. My RPM's were up about 100 RPM's to 4250 at the best speeds. I was very pleased- As a comparison, this about 1-2 MPH pick up in deep water. |

To put this in perspective for you, if your car's top speed were 60mph your top end with a new carb woul be about 66mph |
