Jack Plate vs cutting transom to fit short transom hyper
I need a little advice. Got a 2005 mud buddy 35 hyper I am trying to hang on the back of my buddies boat. 16' tracker with a 21" transom.
The deal is I come up with the motor he puts it on his boat....we both get to try and kill some ducks on the river.
Well the motor is a short transom model and his boat is a tracker with a 21" transom.
So I need to make this motor fit. Its a $600 kit from MudBuddy to turn a short into a long...I am far to cheap to pay this unless I absolutely have to.
So I am looking at either talking my buddy into cutting his transom or using a manuel jack plate to lower the motor. My friend really does not want to cut his transom...he has a remote 50 Merc long transom he is going to put back on once duck season ends...so he can fish.
I can get the angle of the transom to whatever I need it to be....but not sure about the strength of transom or the affect on the motor.
Can you mount a hyper to a jack plate?
Will this hurt my performance in a major way?
Any manuel jack plates you would recomend to lower the motor down 5 " to 16"?
Thanks for your time.
