I have a new to me long tail mud buddy. I replaced the fuel filter and connected a 4ft run of 5/16 fuel line with a primer ball taken from a outboard fuel tank setup. The filter is rather large and it is clear. I have the arrown in direction of flow (to the pump) My problem is that the engine is running out of gas at WOT? The clear filter when primed with the ball fills only half way? Then as the engine is running I can see the gas level running low in the filter untill the motor dies? Is there a problem with using a large filter or large dia fuel line??? I also tried venting the gas tank and closing the vent and it does not matter. all connections are the fuel line clips not clamps! |

How did you get the air out of the line? |

5/16 line might be the problem. bigger line and primer bulbs seem to make the stock pulse pump work to hard. it could also be an air leak. if you have a see thru filter watch and see if bubbles are forming. i got fed up with the whole thing and got an e pump. no problems since. |

Get rid of all those quick connects and hose clamp everything, run all new 1/4" lines. You may even replace the primer ball, it could be malfunctioning. If you still have this problem, you'll need an electric pump to help out, but it's sucking air right now through one of those quick connects. Your filter only being half full won't hurt anything, I've found that both of my motor setups, the filter only fills up tight with gas after running wide open for awhile, and when idling sometimes the filters appear almost empty, but it is wicking gas through the paper filament in there. The clear filters can drive you crazy looking at them. |

if you give up and go e pump here is a link to choose the right pump. 2-5 psi max and look for as much dry lift as possible. they r harder to find but if you get say a Facet model 40178 and your gas tank is in the rear you can mount the pump on the motor and no primer bulb is needed. And yes you can go and get a low pressure pump at about all autoparts stores. http://www.facet-purolator.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=31 |

Yes there seems to be air bubbles on the bottom of the fuel filter? Thanks for the link. |

replaced all lines today. 1/4" from the stock pump down to the primer ball. 1ft from the ball to the tank is 5/16. all new stainless hose clamps too. |
