Post Black death intake ,new Geeker roller rockers water test add
Got tired of fighting the govenor on the stock briggs, Instead of going back with evt intake I went with the black death. and installed my mikuni, modded heads with 30 over ss manley high performance valves decked 50 thou. Bottom end is dead stock.

I have never had a engine start easier and idle smoother. Easier than with the evt combo. I been told that the blackdeath is set up to even out the flow and solve a lean conditon in one of the cyl.

The guy that set up my last bomb did not like the evt rockers, (He helps builds 1200 hp race motors for a living, along wirth outboard motor and head work).
The evt were always ticking loud. I been told the geekers don't make as much noise. Maybe I will be able to here any pinging next time my motor leans out.

I will report back with a water test later this week .

I installed the Gecker shaft mounted rockers and I have been very happy. Not sure rockers are the best bang for the buck though. I think they are a nice to have not a must have. I would go with a performance Cam before I bought a pair of rockers. Just a thought.

SP I had ears on the heads shave off for evt roller rockers on my full blown stage 3, they clattered like hell , I never could get them to run quiet.
I ran a spare stock 35 for most of last season after the stage 3 bomb blew up for the 3rd time. You don't gain much from rollers, but I had already changed the heads and could not put them back to stock rockers.

The geeker rollers arrivied at 11:30 as promised, I ordered thurs at noon . Geeker told me they would go out friday and sure enough they did.

They are well designed and as quiet as stock. When the machine shop took the ears off the heads, they went a little far, I had to make a 1/8 spacer to put under the roller frame to get them right , I am very pleased at how they sound in the drive way, ran them up to 4500 rpm they were quiet and smooth.

I will report back after it see's the water

I think Gecker is another one that should have his dic beaten with a wooden mallet.

Yes. I do live in FL, but I have no affiliation with Gecker what so ever. Just a customer. I am not the "phone guy." I have had no problems with Gecker or any of the work he has done for me. He has always stood behind his product for me and many other's I know of. I know some have had problems though, and CB you and I have talked about this before. There are no excuses for what you and your Dad went through period. I just know that there are lot more positive stories that are not told, and the bad ones are...quite vocally. And then many people chime in who have had no experience with Gecker. That is wrong.

Cool, I'll leave it alone, you know where I was heading with that. I remember talking to you about it before, now.

Post Re: Black death intake ,new Geeker roller rockers
I read about some of the problems a couple of guys here had with Geeker.

I called him about the parts and told him what I was looking for, and asked if his rockers would do what I needed. I called once 6 month ago to inquire about the muffler he offered and found that they were to long for my use, he spent some time on the phone with me then , freely talking about engines and getting the most out of them. I think he is bright and knows what he doing when it comes to hopping up thse motors.

He answered the phone both times I asked for him, that tells me a lot
.
Before placeing this order , I asked about those problems, he explained that they started with some girl in the office not doing her job and things just snowballed. Sounds to me , he got burnt by it, and never wants to be in that position again. He said it cost him some business. He sound like a guy who learned from the experience so I gave him a shot. He came through for me. He promised to get the order out the next day (HE did), I was very pleased with the quailty of the rockers. I will let you know how they perform and if the hold up.

If you have read my post here you know I call it like I see it nothing has changed. Most of you guys have had good luck with evt products, I had a problem with a cam. Mike kind of pissed me off big time, but reading his post here and hearing what others have to say about him, he most likely not the jerk I was thinking he is. I bet given a second chance you will find you have more in common with Geeker than not.

All I can say is that based on this one order my experience with Geeker has been great!

for the record, I have the stage 2 carb and airfilter. It took a little time to set the air strews but once it was right the motor gained all that was advertised.

Just saying.

Put her in the water for first time yeserday. Three men, 15 gals gas , 80 lb dog , 5 dozen mag decoys guns and shells, wind resistant hard al blind with shaggy blind material

Heavy 20x60 al hull.
45 mikuni and bps duals,Stock block with 30 over ss valves heads decked 50.

19..5 mph compared to 17.5 to 18 with evt intake and stock heads. Not a apple to apple comparasion but close. The black death has a better hole shot for sure on my rig.

I can't say that roller rockers added anything at all . I am running at 4 grand with a one tooth smaller gear than stock. This big boat won't run with out a cam.

I should have done dual 27's.
