No lowend power on 35 gtr
I recently had an issue with my carb. Had no power and would die when I gave it gas. Had the carb replaced. It now runs smooth but has no lowend. The prop will barely turn in the mud and I'm running a farely worn prop. As from a stop it doesnt rev up like it had previously. Should I have the carburater looked at or could I have another problem.

What was the issue with the original carb?

Re: No lowend power on 35 gtr
It had no lowend power also but would die when I gave it gas. Not sure what was wrong with it. I took it in and he said he replaced it under warranty. So I'm guessing it was more than just needing a cleaning.
I can take back too him if I have to but I would like to try and figure it out myself if I can. I need to learn how to work on carbs anyways.

Re: No lowend power on 35 gtr
It's got about 90 hours. It's on a nex 1854 extreme. The problem has recently developed. It ran like a champ thru the summer and starting acting up a couple weeeks ago. Replaced carb and it is idling, running smooth but just doesn't have the power. When I give it gas it starts out strong for a second then seems to lose power till it hits higher rpm's. It still climbs up in rpm's but slowly. And like I said, if in the mud it will move the boat but doesn't get it on step due to the low rpm's. But it worked great prior to these issues.

It could be one od several things....i'd check valve lash and also perform a leak down test.

Re: No lowend power on 35 gtr
I'm waiting on the shop to give me a call back. I asked them to do a compression check and adjust the valves when they replaced the carb so I'm sure they did. I've been reading thru posts and I'm thinking the carb might just need some adjusting. When they call me back I guess I'll have a better idea what's going on.
Where can I get some good instructions on how to setup the carb. I'm mechanically inclined and confident I could do it. But I'm from the generation of fuel injection. Never torn a carb apart.

Re: No lowend power on 35 gtr
The carb is pretty much set as is.....only thing needing adjusting is your idle jets and that isn't gonna cause you the issues your experiencing.

Could they have set the valve lash wrong and it flatten a cam lobe?
