check your fuel filter and fuel...

mine did this the other day and it ended up being the valves not set right

So the vavles would be a non field fix I would think. Fuel is brand new but it is 25 today plus wind chill on car ride and boat ride, it was the weirdest thing we were going about15 then all of a sudden rpms dropped and we were lucky to go 6 under a load but if u pull it out of water it runs like no other, thank you for the help any other suggestions for stuff I could check out here would be awesome otherwise its a long ride in today!

i aint no expert but it makes me think you only runnin on one cylinder?
make sure the plug caps are on good, that would be an easy, lucky fix.

if not, undo one wire, try to crank it,if it cranks stop it then undo the other side.
if it still cranks then you got fire on both sides and i'm full of shiat.
if no crank then the side with the wire on is not firing......if this is the case a swap of the sparkplugs could narrow it down to plugs.but wont do you any good unless you got new plugs to replace the bad one......or try cleaning the bad one??????????hope this helps.

One day we were out in the fridgid temps, barely made it back. It ended up being the air filter was soaked, causing it to choke it out. Swore it wasn't getting fuel. Pull filter, and see.

Could be any number of things....fuel tank not being vented, bad spark plug, bad spark plug wire, wet spark plug/wire, bad coil and/or coil wires, valve setting, cam could have a rounded lobe etc.

It's a process of elimination.....check your fuel tank first....if it is vented correctly, pull your spark plugs out and be sure you have good spark.....report back with results and for further consultation.

Since it was cold on that day you might have experienced carb icing, which is a combination of cold temps and very humid air passing through the carb. Does the thing run ok now?

If you find out that it's only running on one cylinder, it could be the diodes in your wiring harness.

Ok, so its not the spark plug, I tested the plug wire and no spark. Took coil and smart spark box off today. I have read the 18HP coil will work better than this one beings it doesn't have the smart spark box.

Did you test the smart box to see if there is something wrong from it?
