 GTR Briggs 35 issue
Last week on the way to the blind I attempted to cross a mud flat that was frozen (didn't think about 28F weather the night before). I came to a HARD stop, quick enough to slide the fuel tank forward causing the plastic nipple on the stock fuel pump to break off @ the hose.
I had to n$gger rig the fuel line/pump to get home. On the way back the motor ran like chit, I could occassionally get it up to 3000 or so RPMs before it would die, I had to idle for most of the way.
I had a reputable briggs service shop go through the engine...
Replaced the fuel pump and fuel line Cleaned the carb Changed oil, oil filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, and airfilter.
I'm offshore, so when my dad picked it up for me, he ran it on the trailer, he got it up to 2600 RPM (Didn't try to rev up any higher) and it ran fine.
When his friend borrowed it, it would idle fine in the water, but when trying to rev up and get on plane, it kept dying. He put it back on the trailer.
The fuel vent was open. Fuel is not old. Water in fuel is a possibility.
Sorry for the long read, just giving as many details as possible.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I would back track again from fuel pump to gas tank. Make sure thereby no leak. even though, you already change the broken fuel pump. Make aure that is a working one. They are known to be bad out of box. Also, who cleaned your carb. ? Is all the jets set right??

 Re: GTR Briggs 35 issue
Well my dad brought my gtr back to the mechanic yesterday morning. Got call back from the mechanic late this afternoon, he spent time on the phone with Gatortail, Prodrive, and Briggs trying to get some leads on the problem, then got to work on the tear down. The compression was 80/80 psi, with bad leak down. The valve seats were not cut deep enough. They did the machining and now the compression is i believe 150 on both. He said the engine runs like a top, but he is going to put it back on the boat and run the boat before calling it good. Best thing is, Briggs is picking up the tab for everything.

 Re: GTR Briggs 35 issue
I crossed a log with my GTR and it started missing. The mechanic found out that I had water emulsion (ethanol) in the gas tank, and my water separator was full of water and emulsion. He said that when I slid over the log, it stirred up the water and emulsion and caused my motor problems.
