They can turn close to 70 hp... For a short time. That 5500 prolly puts out around 55 hp if i had to guess, they put the 00 on it to try and sound cooler ![]() ![]() |

I would like to see sumone dyno these modded motors........ I would think most of them would be alot less than what people think they are. I do remember EVT dyno'ed a few of der's but I don't remember what mods were done to it. |

I have a 5500 and if I had to guess, I'd say it should have between 40-42hp. The 45 mag which is the next step up from the 5500 puts out a true 45hp and it has all modded internals which the 5500 doesn't have. Regardless, the 5500 offers a huge improvement in performance vs a stock 35hp. |

Keith's motor is basically a 7000 with a few tweeks here & there. Casey's motor has some of the same tweeks, but no all of them. I don't remember if he ever dyno'd his or not, but Keith's is putting out close to 70 if I'm not mistaken. As I'm sure you know, it takes more than just the power plant to produce the speeds & performance he's gettin. You have to remember, prop pitch, gears, & boat play a big role as well. If Casey put his on the right setup, I'm sure he could be doin alot better than he is. Keith, if I'm wrong about your #'s, please correct me so the right info is there. |

I haven't run mine on a dyno but if the 45 Mag has all the internals modded and puts out a true 45hp do you really think that putting on the iron mountain heads, roller rockers, and carbs on a stock 35hp will bring it up to 44hp? Without a doubt my 5500 has a lot more power than a stock 35 but how much more, I don't know. |

As long as your valves are shimmed, your not gonna bend a push rod until your well over the 5000 rpm mark! |

Thanks for giving out the recipe like that, those are some awesome speeds your getting in that rig. The most I've gotten with my 5500 and GT1750 is 31-32 by myself and it goes down from there the more weight I add. I was a bit skeptical about modding my engine further since the rev limit on these are so low but being able to do 30+ with 2-3 people in the boat is very tempting. Did the bottom end improve from the way it came from the factory? That's really my only complaint with the 5500 is that it doesn't get going right a way like a stocker does. |
