Post Mud motor for tracker boat
Hello, new to this forum and I have a motor question. I have a 14ft tracker sportsman jon and I want to run a go devil or any mud motor on it. Is this possible w/ the size of my boat? I saw the go devil 16hp vanguard and don't know if this would work or not. Any input is much appreciated.

Prolly not, depends how hard you run it. A couple pieces of bracing will really help a lot for holding the transom together. The bottom won't last long if you run a lot of stumps. It will be a decent little package though. I know several guys with similar rigs that are pretty happy. The 16 is a workhorse.

Pretty much every boat I've seen a 16 on ran about 15 empty. 10-12 loaded down.

If your just running mud, don't worry bout the bottom. You can use products like steel flex or frog spit to help it slide over mud and veggies a little better...

We plowed across open water at 11mph with three big dudes, one lil fugger, and gear in a 1542...It was fun

You can also put a short tail on that- MB sells 18 and 23hp shorts

The weight between a 16 and 23 is not much so if you think the boat and you can handle it, get a 23.
