 mechanical vs. electric fuel pump?

Post mechanical vs. electric fuel pump?
I have a 16hp gdlt with a mechanical pump and I am thinking of putting an electric pump on. What do you guys suggest? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? If I do put on a electric pump when I remove the mechanical pump what do you do about the exhaust line?

On my rig the electric pump is in the line before the mechanical fuel pump and the fuel just passes through both. Correct me if I am wrong ,but I dont beleive there would be a reason to remove the mechanical pump.
