 How to shim valve springs.
After installing my new performance cam in my GTR23, I will have to sim valve springs. Asking if my assumptions are correct. 1. After compressing spring looks like a C clamp hold the spring secure? 2. The shim discs go at the very bottom of the spring cavity? 3. How many shims or discs should I use? Hoyt said he uses 3 or 4 in his 35 mods. I presume I'll have to experiment to find the the best power distribution?

Re: How to shim valve springs.
Do you have a valve spring compress tool to do this?
Its not an experiment and does not affect 'power distribution', shim 0.120- you should buy them machined already as a single piece. You want them all the same. You don't need to do this unless you are planning on running higher RPM (reference the other thread and your decision on governor).

And why don't you have a rag covering that spark plug hole, so nothing falls in there?
