 Mikuni
Alright guys I have stage 1 with stock carb. I read all these bad arse reviews about the mikuni so I'm thinking about buyin one. What will be the real advantage/disadvantage of buying one if I have heads, cam, advanced timing and exhaust? I run a solid 31 now unloaded and a solid 28 loaded, how much would this help me out and would it cut down on the reliability of my motor?

 Re: Mikuni
1-2mph gain I'd guess seeing as you have all the other stuff done too... may get 2+

 Re: Mikuni
I didn't think it was about the money. If it was, people wouldn't drive fancy cars wif leather seats. That would b a waste of money.

 Re: Mikuni
Yes but will the 700 i pay for it increase my load carrying capabilities? Say I put 2 guys in my rig with fishing gear and ice chest and drop about 3 mph or so, will the mikuni decrease the droppage when I load it down?

 Re: Mikuni
Im asking too. Been thinking about it aswell. SOme peopel swear they love the way the engine responds with the Mikuni Vs Stock carb. They you have some people that cant stand them. I think with a carb that can be tuned it has to be better than the stocker.

 Re: Mikuni
you keep the panty hose over the nylon prefilter all the time or do you just put it on when it rains?

 Re: Mikuni
I have Stage one heads, MM exhaust, advance timeing Key, DB8 intake with Mikuni Carb, 4350 limiter. The Mikuni improved throttle response for me. Smooth quick responsive acceleration and deceleration. Hole shot and planning also improved. Also hauls a load great. I did not add the Mikuni for speed so not interested in that aspect. I added the Mikuni for the above results and I am not disappointed. I keep my RPS around 3800-4100 to keep case pressures down. I still have plenty of throttle left so I will probably be adding Pitch to the prop and/or changing the lower gear from a 50 tooth to a 48. I bought my mikuni used on this website from Browning. Save loads of cash. I recommend the change if you can afford the cost.
BTW what brand/color panty hose do you use?

 Re: Mikuni
[quote="WestEndAngler"] I keep it in the boat, when it rains I put it on. Listen the last thing I want to do is be caught out on the open water in an aluminum boat with rods sticking up in the air... I have spent 2 hours one day laying in the water/ marsh grass scared to death of being struck by lightening. Being closed in by storms is never a good thing and I constantly monitor the weather because of that incident. It was the only time I was truly scared for my life. I felt the electrical shock from the lightening, it kept hitting a duck blind 200 yards behind me where the boat was tied off to. The 4x4 post was split in half after the storm passed. I hid out in a low lying marsh drain fighting off the hermit crabs & skeeters. Emergency poncho came in handy that day. I couldn't hear for about an hour after the storm & had a horrible headache for about 10 hours.[quote="WestEndAngler"] man that story reminds me of ole reg from the great outdoors http://youtu.be/OGR6Wk3Kboo
