Was wondering after riding the mud this past weekend if i would be better off installing iron mountain heads on my stock motor with exhaust only on it or just have my factory heads worked over? i know iron mountain heads run about 560 for my 23hp. was wondering what a good head job runs? also which has the most power for the buck. if i get the iron mountain heads is it ok to run them on a factory block and cam? |

I had my heads/valves lapped with the motor still under warranty but was told it was like 400 bucks to do it. |

Head and cam...no question about it!!! I had my heads decked and new new valves seated. I sent my stock heads off to get this done. I bought a performance cam, too. I installed both myself. It made a tremendous difference in both hole shot and top speed on by GTR23. When you are talking about motors that top out at 30 mph, any increase in rpm and speed will be significant. Look at it this way. If your car's max speed were 60 mph and you increased that to 70 mph with a new cam and decked heads, that would be significant. The equivalent speeds for a mud motor would be 30mph top speed improved to 35 mph. Its all relative. But where the real improvement comes in is load carrying capacity. |

There's a place in downtown Port Arthur, on Proctor where you can get a head job for $20. |
