 Marshmellow Clamps Breaking
Has anyone else had problems with the big round clamps breaking on their Marshmellow. There are 4 of them that go around the mufflers and the mount. They are cheap and easy to replace but it seems I am breaking at least 1 every time I take the boat out and I'd just like to figure out why.
My guess is that the prop is out of balance. I really couldn't think of any other reason for them breaking. I need to send the prop in to be balanced but I'm waiting for a stretch of time when I don't mind being boatless.

 Re: Marshmellow Clamps Breaking
A couple of mine broke but it was because I installed them wrong & it kinked. They will rust the clamps are not SS. I never replaced mine. I think I only had the 2 top ones when I sold it never had any issues.

 Re: Marshmellow Clamps Breaking
Everyother time I use mine atleast one breaks I figure it's just from getting so hot and cooling off so much weakens them up. That's my guess

 Re: Marshmellow Clamps Breaking
I changed mine after a year cause they were rusting pretty bad. 1 had a crack but not broke. I was think the heat may be to much for them myself. But they are cheap.

 Re: Marshmellow Clamps Breaking
Wut Rpms do u usually run your motor at? At 3500- 3600 I have an exhaust cracking vibration that I can't feel. The 2 crossover exhausts that I have cracked in the last 15 hours helped me recognize this. My motor is modded so I was able to run at much lower revs than when stock. The bps exhaust held up fine for 40 hours wif a stock motor that I kept around 4000 when running. After the mods, I broke 2 exhausts in 2 trips, wif a different prop each trip.

 Re: Marshmellow Clamps Breaking
MM also has a new cross brace for the PD exhausts. Been meaning to call Dan and get one.

 Re: Marshmellow Clamps Breaking
Up grade to the stainless MPI "T" bolt clamps. They sell them at most marine stores or industrial hose companies. http://www.marinehose.com/mpi/products_exhaust_720.htm

You don't want to know what I've broke on mine, but then again I break things most people can't begin to imagine.

 Re: Marshmellow Clamps Breaking
The way I see it is that all of them break no matter who makes them. I've broke stock briggs, evt, and now generac exhuast. Aftermarket exhaust give you better sound and flow but these motors in this application are tough on exhaust. It's just the nature of the beast

 Re: Marshmellow Clamps Breaking
Old post but for reference... The 3 1/2" SS T clamps fit perfectly. Hopefully they last like the ones on my old EVT. Westmarine carries them if you feel like getting Ass raped with the price.
