Do they put the hours back on them or just give you a new one?

You just get a new one.

Or you could keep the old one and....
Just write your desired RPM's on it with a Sharpie

i had problems with one too. i called tiny tach and they said it was prolly too many wraps on the plug wire, that all it needs is one wrap.

try this

peel label off front, you will see a rectangle cut out of the plastic that is filled with gray rubber. take a pocket knife blade and stick it straight down into the far right side of the rubber rectangle. it will contact a copper ring inside and reset the unit. your hours will be reset to zero. put label back on.

i did this and used only one wrap on the plug wire and now it works perfectly.

Most of the time...when these units "go-out" prematurely it's due to a short in the ground wire. Cut it back as short as possible. (removing all excess slack)

Fail... Looks like I'm going to have to send it off. I don't think the warranty will cover it now lol

call them first, you have to really stick the blade deep into the rubber stuff for it to make the contact. the ttech support guy that toldd me how to do it was really helpful. call them when youre right in front of the tach.

that hole you see in the circuit board is where you have to stick the knife blade in to reset it, just for future reference.

Yeah, I always did hate it when I hit the hole wrong, but it usually only took a second to fix that.
