I was tearing down the old PD today to in stall a cam, Need less to say more than the clutch came off the PTO/crank shaft. I came across this large chip and after a closer look at the shaft it is cracked as well.

Signed: Sucks to be me!

Looks like the shaft was exposed to a lot of heat where it "scaled". How many hours on the engine?

Sucks to hear, but since you pulling it apart for a cam swap, There aint much more to get the crank out. Pull the flywheel off and it shoul slide out of the block I assume?

You should have been able to clear the crank just by pushing the pistons to the top of the cylinder. Weren't you putting new pistons in though?

You wouldn't have so many hours on there if you would stay off Lamberts 50k acres he has posted across the river trying to run his ducks off. :o LOL

Hey P- When you pull that thing apart, take some pics of the inside (piston walls, and load bearing surfaces like crank journals / bearing surfaces etc...) with that many hours it may be interesting for folks to see how well these things hold up.

From the looks of it, the cylinder walls and crank journals are in good shape for the amount of hours on the block.
