Post Help! Tate-down questions
I'm wanting to pull my cam out. I have the motor only sitting on my bench. No heads front cover or all the other bs. What comes of next? Flywheel or rear case?

Assuming it's a briggs or assembled in a similar manner, the rear case. Don't have to take the flywheel off to pull the cam.

Yes Briggs 29. Rear cover does not want to come off. Removed the bolts and it only pulls off 1/2 inch

How long has it been sitting up?

You may have some burrs on the crankshaft. Take an emery cloth and smooth it up a bit and see if that helps. If there is any surface rust or burrs it will catch on the seal on the way out. Make sure you clean it well so you don't scar the bearing on the other side of the seal.

Push the cover back on and use a fine emry paper on the end of the crankshaft. it should slide right off aftr that.

I used a three prong puller hooked to three bolts screwed into auxiliary holes in the cover.

After you clean it with emry cloth shoot a squirt or two of 3 n 1 oil or some type of lubricant to help with friction.

Then if it still doesnt want to come off, tap it in a circle around the cover with the butt of a screw driver while you pull on it.

Make sure your pulling straight out and its not in a bind.

Still can't get it off. It comes about 3/4" off the block then stops. It's like there's a hidden bolt stopping it.

Just the seal or the metal where the crank sits? The seal is not a big deal, it's like 11 bucks and not a bad idea to replace anyway.
