Post gear reduction
Im looking into gettin a small LT 9hp -12hp range. I see that MB makes a couple gear reduction models. Im told that it enables u to run a larger prop, resulting in better performance out of a smaller MM. What do u guys think,, im trying to keep the weight down but i need to be able to push myself over a log or stump if i get high centered,,i dont care about speed at all. Im am outfittin a 14/36 weldbuilt crawdad .80. Seems to me you would loose in rpms at the prop but gain pitch with the larger prop,, would u just end up were u started.

If it's the right balance of rpm loss and pitch gain, you may get a little bit better performance.

It should be harder to bog it down under a load too.

Orion Mud Motors also sells 1.5:1 gear reduction LT's you can get direct drive or centrifical clutch. Might be worth checking them out.
