Post 36pd one plug wet/one dry wont run??
We fished all day saturday, probably ran around 30mi and never had a problem.

Went to start the motor the next morning but it wouldnt start, pulled the nut off the bottom of the mikuni carb and there was a little bit of water in it. Cleaned it out, still wouldnt start.

Checked the plugs and one was wet and the other was dry, switched them and it started and idled great but then it wouldnt throttle up at all, just pop and sputter.

Today i cleaned the carb, changed the fuel filter and tried to start it but no luck. Again, one plug wet and the other was dry.

Ideas?

36pd with mikuni carb and mm muffler

How did you clean the carb?

Have you checked to see that you are getting spark on both cylinders?

I thought a little more about it and decided to cut the green wire that comes off the rev limiter and it started up and ran great.

So i'm assuming the rev limiter is bad? Is this a common occurance?

I would say it has maybe 50hrs on the rev limiter, i hope they should last longer than that for $120?

One last thing, is it ok to run the motor without the rev limiter since the motor has no major mods as long as I am careful not to overrev it?

It's mounted inside the riser of the tiller handle mount.

I have been careful already to try and not hit the rpm limit if possible when running.

Thanks for the help and suggestions!!

belly up they don't like moisture or extreme shock. so mount in a dry location maybe a half box ?. and mount using rubber grommets if possible. u can also seal the plastic case with some liquid tape around the case. i have seen these rev limiters on e-bay alot cheaper than that price. or try a rev-tec

thanks, I bet its the water that got to it then. We ran some pretty rough water on the bay. Next one will get sealed like you suggested and mounted with rubber isolaters.
