A stock engine is designed by engineers to run at certain limits with a certain fuel and oil etc. with those stock parts. Now if you replace the stock parts with high quality performace parts and good quality lubricants and don't run it like a manic all the tome. Shouldn't it last just as long. I know there will lots of variables, but how many hours have you guys with stage III motors been getting or should the question be how are they holding up? It sure is tempting to go stage III. I can only afford one boat and I love some more speed when traveling long distances like 15 miles or so, or just going for a ride. |

Think of it like a house being built……It is only as good as its foundation. If you think the foundation will hold go for it! I’m sure you can build a 200HP motor out of a 35/36 briggs and run it for100 hours….but what RPM/LOAD will you run it at to get the 100hr desired mark. Stage 3 has turned in to a slang term over the years to translate BOOM!! I’m sure over the next few months we will stop using the Stage 1,2,3 and start referring to them as HP/TQ rated motors. That way everyone is on the same page. If you want the MAX out the potential just to say you did it go for it. You can put, heads, rods, pistons, carbs, blowers, etc..you name it you can do it just show me the money! Good luck and have fun with it but I WOULD NOT DO IT! I don't know how they are holding up but I know of 2 mb7000's that had issues. One just had a cracked case the other a hole in the block. The one with the hole had some hours on it. |

May just start by doing the heads and see how I like it. Simple to do and won't break the bank. I do love my mudbuddy though. I don't have to worry about the reverse breaking. |

You can modd it out all you want, just depends on how you drive it, i mean if you run 5500 -6000 WOT all the time yeah it'll last you maybe a month or so. But if you run it conservativly then it'll last you as long as you take care of it |

Well I figure a higher horsepower motor turning a higher gear with motor at a lower rpm would last longer than a stock motor running full throttle all the time to run a decent speed. Thanks for the responses. |

Why are you getting so upset . I was being sarcastic about the reverse. I wish I had one. I'm not trying to say "My motors better than everbody elses." All the brands use the same engines anyway. Just different lower units to get the power to the prop. |

I have a nice roping horse & he has a Lots of heart, power & can go & go. If u run him as hard as he can go & keep calling on him he will likely run himself to death. Moved motors r the same way. Just because ur motor has alot of power & torque doesnt mean it has to run to its limits. Stronger motor can get u on step quicker & allow u to run the motor @ an easier pace. |

Oh yeah, well my motor's stock & I've had no trouble at all from it. Of course, it's a stock MB 5000, so the mods were already there, but still, it's stock.

BB, what you say don't count. Anybody thats run down there knows Venice is MM HELL!  You got just enuf mud to make you think you can go but just eat the prop off yo shit.  Camo, You got that ole raggled MB. That don't count either.  Im over 100 hrs and most of them are to the firewall besides putting out or picking up decoys. LOL |
