Post Synthetic oil, when is a good time to switch?
It's about time for me to start my first round of maintenance on the Mud Buddy. I've gotten different opinions on when I should switch over to a full synthetic in my engine. Some say after the first oil change. Others say wait for 100 hours. I want to hear from some of the motor gurus on here. 50hp, deadbird, and the rest of the folks with way more knowledge and experience let's hear how y'all feel about this issue.

Thanks

Oil is oil. Run whatever floats your boat. Best to run a high zinc package oil... You can run Fancy Amsoil racing oil, or some Diesel oil.... Depends on price. OIL IS OIL.

This is what I run AMSOIL 10W-30/SAE 30 Synthetic Small Engine Oil
I thought I read somewhere on the Amsoil web site that they recomment 100 hours before switching so the bearings and rings have sufficient time to seat correctly.
Amsoil also has a 4 stroke Marine oil that is a couple bucks more than what I have above. I really don't see that as a necessity but some may.

Ive got a local dealer. I was running the Amsoil in my GD, just wanted to know how many hours to wait before I started using it in the MB.

I just checked the Briggs site, it's not there anymore. There's some other gibberish about using synthetic at anytime in the new motors. I dunno. Just go to the Briggs site.

Advance Cycles in Belle Chasse stocks the Amsoil, I just took for granted that they are a dealer. Thats where I get my oil from.

I run synthetic from the first fill, change after ~10hours, and then before every season.

so its safe to say you can put 100 hours on an oil change and pump a little grease about every 4-5 ride

It really dont matter oil is oil... your case gaskets will start leaking before 100 hours so you gonne be cracking the case any way, so might aswell change the oil with some cheaper stuff to save coin for the gasket later LOL.
