Just wondering how easy it is to burn up a clutch/neutral in the motors that have them. I hear ppl on here say get a GD or one without them because its less crap to tear up. But just how often or easy is this to do? I know some will say it just depends on how much chit you put it through and if you drive it like you stole it ![]() |

The clutch is an electrical component. It could last 1000 hrs, or it could go out with only an hour on it. Just like the coils, diodes, & kill switches that are on ALL of the motors. Let's face it, no matter what brand you buy, at some point it's gonna break down on you. Sent from my Droid because I'm trying to be as cool as you someday. |

We do clutch dumps at full throttle on our mower about 30-35 times in 8 hours. Mower has right around 1800 hours. Changed the clutch about 300 hours ago due to a cut wire. So 1500 hours equals 5625-6563 WOT dumps. Don't worry about that. |

The clutch used in the MB and GT are industrial clutches that can handle a ton of RPM. Clutches going out is not an everyday occurance and most of the problems are inexpensive electrical fixes (loose connectors, wiring, ckt breakers). I view it as a safety item- especially for my dog, as I don't have to worry about a spinning prop in the dark at the ramp while the motor warms up. The momentary forward switch (bump to put in gear momentarily) is very nice when easing into an area or dock. As Camo said, anything can break but the benefits are pretty obvious. |
